Inspiring The Next Generation of Kaitiaki.

The New Zealand Conservation trust is currently offering the Junior Predator Controller Talks for schools, community groups and more that inspire a deeper understanding of native species, ecological restoration and empower participants to take positive action for biodiversity.

If there is another conservation topic you are interested in that we do not currently have on offer, please feel free to message us and enquire - we may be able to help you out.

Jnr Predator Controller Talk

Our Jnr Predator Controller talks cover what is a native species vrs an introduced species, as well as why predator trapping is so important. Participants will learn why we lay tracking tunnels before placing traps in an area, and all the different types of traps and what they are for.

Have fun clearing some mock tracking tunnels and guessing what species left their track - afterwards you can check a mock trap line and work out what predators we have “caught”.

Our predator talks can be carried out either in the classroom or at one of our trapline sites in Christchurch.

We can tailor this session for a 1hr or 2hr talk and to suit the audience, whether it’s early childhood centres, primary and secondary schools, community groups, or residents in retirement villages.

Cost: donations are appreciated.
