Our Patron

HRH Princess Anne

New Zealand Conservation Trust is proud to have Her Royal Highness Princess Anne as our Patron.

HRH Princess Anne first visited the Trust and Willowbank Wildlife Reserve in 1995, when she formally opened the Kiwi Nocturnal House built by the New Zealand Conservation Trust.

HRH Princess Anne visited again in 1998, officially accepted being patron of the New Zealand Conservation Trust after her visit.

In 2008 HRH Princess Anne Visited again, during this visit she opened the new Kiwi Breeding Centre and Public viewing area built by the New Zealand Conservation Trust at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve.

In 2023 HRH Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence visited both the New Zealand Conservation Trust and Willowbank again.

HRH meet with NZCT trustees, volunteers and members from Willowbank. During their visit the Royal party toured the native section of Willowbank where they were shown a Great Spotted Kiwi.

HRH Princess Anne was invited name a kiwi chick which hatched on the day of her visit, she affectionately named her Willow.

HRH was also treated to a presentation from local high school student Ryan Attwood on the importance of predator control.
